New Delhi/Auckland – Opinder Singh, President of the Confederation of Indian Footwear Industry (CIFI), UP Chapter, was among the distinguished guests during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to New Zealand.
The gathering, part of PM Modi’s landmark trip that saw bilateral relations elevated to a strategic partnership, brought together prominent business leaders of Indian origin recognised for their contributions to the New Zealand economy. Singh described it as one of the most memorable moments of his life.

Speaking about the evening, Singh said he had the opportunity to interact closely with PM Luxon, senior Cabinet Ministers including Health Minister Simeon Brown, representatives of the New Zealand Government, officials from the High Commission of India, and several other distinguished guests. He noted their warmth and simplicity left a lasting impression and that discussions ranged across India’s economic growth story, the rising trajectory of the Indian footwear industry, and expanding trade and business opportunities between India and New Zealand.

Singh described the reception accorded to PM Modi as a marker of India’s rising global stature, and called meeting the Prime Minister in person an unforgettable and deeply proud moment.
