Paris, June 2, 2025: In a strategic move to bolster Indo-European economic ties, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, engaged with leading French business figures in Paris. The discussions, held on June 2, centered on exploring new avenues for collaboration and investment between India and France.

Puran Dawar and Aqeel Panaruna, representing the Indian footwear industry, will attend a high-level CEO meeting at Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris, France. The meeting will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, trade, and economic cooperation between India and France.

Piyush Goyal’s visit comes at a pivotal time, as India and the European Union are on the cusp of finalizing a comprehensive free trade agreement. Speaking in Paris, he expressed optimism about concluding the pact ahead of the December deadline set by both parties’ leaders. The minister emphasized India’s readiness to engage on critical issues such as gender equality and sustainability, highlighting the country’s significant progress in these areas. This openness aims to align with EU standards and foster a more inclusive trade environment. French business leaders responded positively to his  outreach, expressing keen interest in India’s dynamic market and the potential benefits of a strengthened trade relationship. The dialogue underscored mutual aspirations for increased investment and technological collaboration.

As negotiations advance, the prospective trade agreement promises to enhance economic cooperation, reduce trade barriers, and create a more robust framework for bilateral commerce between India and the EU.
