Under Armour has announced that Dave Dombrow is returning to the athletic company, less than three months after he announced he was leaving for Nike.

The company’s former SVP of creative footwear and accessories will come back to the brand as chief design officer. He heads back to Under Armour starting August 1 to take over the newly created role. The executive will guide the design of Under Armour’s entire collection of shoes, apparel and accessories.

Dombrow is largely credited with creating Under Armour’s highly popular line of basketball sneakers for Stephen Curry, as well as getting the company on track in the running category with launches like the Charge RC, Speedform Apollo and Gemini.

According to Under Armour’s founding partner Kip Fulks,
“In his time at Under Armour, Dave played an instrumental role in creating innovative and cutting-edge footwear with international acclaim. As Under Armour continues to evolve the key pillars of innovation and design while expanding global growth in all categories, Dave’s unique abilities to challenge the status quo and to anticipate the needs of the future athlete are exactly what we need to further our success.”

“I continue to be humbled and amazed by what we have built together, fueled by the core commitment to innovation and design, as well as the entrepreneurial drive to make all athletes better,” Dombrow remarked.
