In a significant development, David Schröder will assume the position of co-CEO at Zalando alongside fellow co-founder Robert Gentz, following the decision of David Schneider to step down from his role.
These adjustments aim to enhance the execution of Zalando’s strategic vision, which revolves around the expansion of the business along two growth pathways: Business-to-Consumer (B2C) and Business-to-Business (B2B).
“Zalando has consistently demonstrated its ability to evolve its strategy and reallocate roles and responsibilities within its robust leadership team to ensure synergy and address the evolving demands of customers and partners,” remarked David Schneider, who co-established Zalando with Robert Gentz in 2008.
In his new capacity, David Schneider will concentrate on fostering partnerships across Zalando’s B2C and B2B sectors, underscoring the pivotal role of partnerships in the company’s overarching strategy.
Conversely, Schröder will direct his efforts toward the development of Zalando’s B2B operating system, facilitating e-commerce activities across Europe both on and off the Zalando platform. He will also spearhead the enhancement of the company’s distinctive capabilities and infrastructure. Co-founder Robert Gentz will retain his position as Co-CEO, focusing on solidifying Zalando’s status as Europe’s premier destination for high-quality fashion, lifestyle offerings, and creative inspiration.
“We are excited to welcome David Schröder into the role of Co-CEO, leveraging his substantial contributions to Zalando’s journey since its inception in 2010, to drive the expansion of our B2B growth initiatives. Personally, I am eager to deepen our industry partnerships and elevate them to new heights,” Gentz remarked. All transitions will take effect as of September 1, 2024.
