Brazilian sustainable shoe brand Cariuma is celebrating World’s Ocean Day by partnering with apparel company 4ocean to create a four-shoe collection that is made-to-order.
Since its inception in 2017, 4ocean has intercepted 14 million pounds of trash from waterways while also encouraging its consumers to make more sustainable choices in their day-to-day lives with the various products it offers ranging from bracelets to face masks.
For this project, the duo has opted to use the IBI and IBI Slip-On silhouettes from Cariuma, which will be available in white and blue-based color schemes. According to the companies, the shoes are constructed with a recycled polyester fabric on the upper, which eliminates extra waste while reducing C02 emissions when the shoe is being created. The IBI silhouette also boasts a plant-based insole made from cork and mammona oil along with the sole that’s made from sugar cane.
The 4ocean x Cariuma IBI sneaker collab will be available for purchase throughout June at Cariuma.com, and the proceeds will help 4ocean remove about two pounds of plastic from the oceans, rivers and waterways.
