ASICS continues to embrace the growing sneaker mule trend with the upcoming GEL-1130 Mule, a fresh take on one of its classic retro runners. Blending sporty aesthetics with everyday comfort, the new silhouette transforms the traditional GEL-1130 into an open-back slip-on design built for casual wear and effortless styling.

Inspired by the long-running DIY trend of cutting the heels off worn sneakers for easier wear, the GEL-1130 Mule keeps the signature mesh construction and metallic overlays of the original model while introducing a relaxed, backless structure. The design also echoes experimental mule silhouettes previously created through collaborations with Kiko Kostadinov, which helped popularize the open-heel sneaker aesthetic in fashion and streetwear culture.

The collection will launch in three colorways, Silver, Silver/Brown, and Black/Silver, combining retro running influences with modern versatility.

As hybrid footwear continues gaining popularity across the sneaker industry, the ASICS GEL-1130 Mule arrives at the perfect time.The sneaker is expected to release in Summer 2026 through ASICS and select retailers worldwide, with pricing yet to be announced.
