Danish footwear brand Ecco is strengthening its presence in India with the launch of three new retail stores in Mumbai and New Delhi, underscoring its ambitious expansion strategy in the country. The brand aims to establish 25 exclusive outlets across India by 2026.

The newly opened stores are strategically located at Palladium Mall in Mumbai, as well as DLF Promenade and Pacific Mall in New Delhi. They offer a diverse range of footwear, including premium formal shoes, contemporary casual styles, and high-performance outdoor and golf footwear. Ecco, founded in Denmark, first entered the Indian market in 2019.

“India is a crucial market for Ecco, and we are thrilled to expand our footprint in Mumbai and Delhi. These store openings mark a major milestone, bringing our high-quality footwear closer to our customers,” said Sumeet Lohia, Country Manager of Ecco Shoes India. He also noted that the brand enjoys strong customer loyalty, with repeat buyers accounting for 50% of total sales.

Ecco’s expansion blueprint focuses on key retail hubs across India’s top six cities, with a goal to establish a strong presence in leading shopping destinations by 2026. “By then, we aim to have a significant presence in all major malls,” Lohia added.

Patrick Sønderskov Iversen, Regional Director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, emphasized Ecco’s long-term commitment to India. “As a family-owned company, we see India as a market with immense potential, driven by its demographic growth and rising disposable incomes. We are here for the long haul and plan to further scale up our operations beyond these initial stores by 2030,” he stated.

With a focus on premium craftsmanship and innovation, Ecco’s strategic retail expansion signals its confidence in India’s evolving consumer landscape and growing appetite for high-quality footwear.
